Summer Newsletter May 2010

Dear Parents/Carers

Hopefully, Summer is on the way!! Please ensure that as the weather gets warmer and sunnier that your child comes to nursery wearing sun cream and a sun hat. We can apply sun cream, so please let us know if your child is allergic to sun cream.

Please look on the parent’s notice board to see what your child will be learning about over the next term. The plans are displayed each term. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask Mrs Meaton, Mrs Lowe or Mrs Wood-Doyle.

Last week Carolyn Revell-Hughes and Julie Meaton undertook a week’s “Forest School” training with the aim that the Centre becomes a Forest School. We are now looking for a safe piece of woodland in the local area where we can take children to experience learning through a forest environment. We are very excited about this as we feel that the benefits for the children will be immense (more information to follow)

Friday 11th June – School Photographs

The school photographer will be once again at the Centre. If you wish to have family photographs, please come to the large hall from 8.30 and 1.00 pm. We will take all other children down to be photographed throughout the nursery session. If you do not want your child to have a photo, please tell your child’s nursery nurse. The cost of the photos will be £11.00 per pack.

Sue’s Retirement

We are very sad to announce that Sue Eccles is to retire on Thursday, 17th June after 26 years at the Centre. She will be greatly missed by staff and children. Over the years Sue has inspired us all with her wonderful ideas, creativity and patience.

On Thursday, 17th June we would like to invite all parents, past and present to a presentation in the large hall at 11.00 am. This will be an opportunity for us all to say “goodbye” and “good luck” to Sue as she embarks on the next stage of her life. We know she is looking forward to this!

Sue’s morning group will be taken over by Hayley Bradley

Fantasy Day

Fantasy Day is on Friday 9th July. Our theme for this year is Nursery Rhymes. Please dress your child up as a nursery rhyme character. It doesn’t have to be anything complicated or expensive.
