Our Nursery School is able to accommodate 60 children receiving nursery education and an additional 16 children who access day care. The day care children are fully integrated into the nursery school and their provision is "wrapped around" their educational entitlement. There is a staffing ratio of one adult to eight children in the Nursery School.
The children are divided into two classes each led by qualified teachers. Each teacher works with a group of early years practioners and the children are divided into key person groups. Each key person has a group of approximately 8 children for whom they take particular responsibility, make assessments, keep records, liaise with parents, plan etc.
The Nursery School has large, bright activity areas, two quiet rooms, a library, 6 toilets and sinks, a toilet for the disabled, a therapy room with hoist, and a sensory room. There is a covered veranda for physical play during inclement weather and a beautiful outdoor play area.
The indoor nursery environment is divided into the 7 areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. The outdoor environment is divided into an agility area, a small skills area, a bike track, an adventure play area, a sensory garden and a mud kitchen.
We use the large hall of the Geoffrey Allen Centre for dance, ballet and Little Learners Sports each week.
All furniture, equipment and toys are high quality and purchased especially for this age of children.
