Early Start Program
The Centre runs a programme of courses funded through the Basic Skills Agency’s family learning programme. Courses are targeted at parents with under 3’s who have no or few academic qualifications. The programme aims to increase parents self–confidence and skill base through involvement in their own children’s learning. Each course runs for ten weeks and comprises of time for the children/adults to each work in their peer groups, time for parents and child to work together and learning projects to complete at home. Centre staff have been trained to deliver the programme by the Basic Skills Agency and are supported with centrally provided teaching materials and resources.
