Monitoring and Evaluation

At the Centre we monitor and evaluate all provision and services very carefully and regularly to ensure that we are providing the very best service which meets the needs of all the users - children, adults or practitioners. Each subject in our curriculum is monitored annually on a cycle to ensure all subject areas are covered. Other areas such as health and safety, SEN, equal opportunities, staff development etc. are monitored on a 3/5-year cycle. All staff, users, advisers and governors are involved in the monitoring process. We monitor and evaluate through the following methods:

  • using policy and scheme of work documents to set criteria for monitoring according to these documents
  • using target setting data
  • every member of staff taking part in the process
  • using questionnaires returned from staff, parents and practitioners and analysing the results
  • using narratives and testimonies from parents and staff
  • analysing documentation
  • making inventories of resources including time, equipment, staffing, space and deployment
  • observations of teaching and caring staff
  • observations of children
  • course evaluation reports.

After collecting all information from monitoring we evaluate the results and form an action plan to ensure that changes for the better are made. This is a process that takes place in two-year cycles and forms part of the long-term plan for the centre.
