Out of School Club

A maximum of 32 children are cared for by a team of five childcare professionals. The children are delivered and collected to and from five local schools in the Centre's Minibus and People Carrier which have seat belts and are driven by qualified drivers holding the DCC minibus permit. Hours of opening are 7.30am – 9am and 3pm – 6pm term time 7.30am – 6pm holiday times. The cost of care is £2.00 per hour. The cost of collection from school is £1.00 per day. Alternatively parents can make their own arrangements. There is space for children-in-need for parents who do not work. These places are allocated according to need and are free.

• Charlesworth Primary School
• Dinting C of E Primary School
• Simmondley Primary School.

A breakfast/tea-snack is provided as part of our service. The Out of School Club was inspected by Social Services in 2002. It received a very good report with no recommendations for action. In 2001 the club won a High Peak Community award for services to the community of Gamesley.

Activities are varied and interesting. We have a sports coach, a chess club and an art teacher running an art class. These clubs within the club are in addition to the usual activities of topic work, craft, TV, computer games, reading, table top games etc.

The club is currently is working towards the KidsClub Network's ‘Aiming High’ Award, which is a quality mark for out-of-school clubs.
