Under 3s Group

Our under three’s dept is part of a COMMUNITY INTEREST COMMUNITY COMPANY, created in July 2006 for the benefit of the community and integrated with the nursery school to provide care for children.

We have 12 children in the baby room (0-2 years) and 16 children in the toddler room (2-3 years) We are open from 7.30am to 6pm for 50 weeks of the year excluding bank holidays.

We have a staffing ratio of 1 adult to 3 children in the baby room and 1 adult to 4 children in the toddler room.

We follow the EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE CURRICULUM and plan for children based on observations and the curriculum guidance.

Children are allocated a key worker, who is responsible for their day to day care and for liaising with parents and other team members to ensure the child's needs are met. She will also keep records of each child’s progress and consult with parents to devise a programme to meet each child's developmental needs. Activities in this area are based around the EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE CURRICULUM

The nursery routine includes free play, messy play, individual activity programmes and outdoor play as well as a daily story and music/singing session.

Staff also ensure that the children get out and about as much as possible in order to widen their experience. Outings may include trips to local shops and parks or simply a walk around their local area.
